At the risk of stating the obvious, the "J.W." in the lower-right corner identifies it as the work of seminal bondage artist and photographer John Willie (real name John Alexander Scott Coutts, 9 December 1902 to 5 August 1962). Captioned "The Harem Slave" it appeared as a free-standing illustration on page 44 in issue 1 of his self-published magazine Bizarre. (This particular number did not see the light of day till 1954, following the scheduled appearance of issue 13, whereas issues 2-5 were released in 1946.)
