Blacklace Drag aka Killer in Drag

» Book Covers

I almost posted these covers of Edward D. Wood, Jr.'s crossdresser noir novel on one of my gay sites but remembered that Wood wasn't gay:

Ed Wood: Listen, I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime, grab some dinner, maybe?
Vampira: You mean a date? I thought you were a fag.
Ed Wood: No, no, I'm just a transvestite.

Blacklace Drag by Ed D. Wood, Jr.

Cover copy:

The twilight land between the sexes. A woman in love with women, yet drive by her erotic lust to even more degrading acts!!

The thriller about a crossdresser assassin who works for the mob is better known as Killer in Drag:

Transvestite murderer

Black and white printing is cheaper than color:

Ed Wood crossdresser noir novel

This reissue appeared about the time that Tim Burton's biographical fantasy starring Johnny Depp came out:

Drag queen killer

Despite a real fondness for Wood's psychotronic movies I've never read one of his novels.

Salon published a review notable only for humorless insults:

The rotten books are actually more fun than the rotten movies, in the same way that a paper cut is more fun than poison ivy.
