Pulp Erotica builds on a long tradition of mixing sex and violence with other taboos. This site offers sex stories and faux cover art inspired by pulp fiction of the 1930s and 40s and exploitation fiction of the 1950s and 60s. In their day, these genres offered titillating art and great stories that nevertheless never quite followed thru on the sex they implied on their covers.
The Erotica Bibliophile is an ongoing and ever expanding research project I started back in 2003 when I first became obsessed with the history of European erotica and, quickly thereafter, the publishers and artists who were part of the clandestine world of “pornography” during the 18th and very early 20th centuries.
Many of the important erotica illustrators active during that period are represented here through their drawings as well as many detailed check-lists of publications that contain that artist’s work …
