Devil's Female Pope

When I first ran across this reproduction of La Papesse du Diable I had no idea what it was about. My guess was this sinister woman was the leader of some sort of dark kinky cult.

Here's one summary that I found:
This is a contribution to the surrealist movement littérautre erotic in an apocalyptic framework. Asiatic hordes stormed across Europe, Paris ends up falling in the hands of Archimagesse willing to impose a new order, she takes her triumphs advice of the devil. Along with the introduction of this new order, a Sapphic love blooms between Archimagesse his secretary and devoted. The book ends not the release of all manners of social constraints in scenes of orgies, while the approach end of the world ... short it is a reversal of values, a reversal that seems almost conventional to the modern reader and has more flavor and subversive that this book must have had in his time.
A female Pope would be enough to convince conservative Roman Catholics that the End was at hand.

The book is still in print for a very modest price:

I'd rather worship her than have to attend the local Baptist church anyday.
