Sukia was an Italian comic book that often featured vampires (vampires were popular in comic books decades before the recent mania in teen publishing). Perhaps the manacled miss was a vampire. As things go a flogging was merciful. The most common fate of women in these old Italian comics seemed to be getting stabbed.
